The White Stripes | MP3s
This post is hard to write. No one likes to admit being wrong. I should also mention - this post is intended for a small number of folks, who like me, have been in denial about the White Stripes.
I give up, I’ll finally admit it - they’re fucking good.
I think my unfair bias towards them began when several corporate drones mentioned to me during pre-meeting chit-chat that the White Stripes were their new favorite band. Not wanting to have anything to do with anything related to these jackasses, I immediately wrote them off as not worth my time. Snobby? Sure. But you’d have to meet these drones to really understand. That and hearing Seven Nation Army everywhere I turned for six months led me to believe I wasn’t missing anything important.
Not since I discovered Gov’t Mule have I gone and purchased so many albums at the same time. Give them a try again if you’ve unfairly judged them like I have -
The White Stripes - My Doorbell from Get Behind Me Satan
The White Stripes - Little Bird from De Stijl
The White Stripes - Jolene from The Forum, London, 12/06/01
ps. I don’t care that Meg can’t drum, and as much as I’ve turned my opinion around, it’s just malarkey that Jack White was named the 17th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone.

hey jimmy -
I think the reason I grew tired of Seven Nation Army is that it was used at every hockey game for an entire year, played in ever bar I went to, always on the radio etc. I just couldn’t escape it.
Why do I have little bird on here? Cause I really like that track!
Ross
ps. Yeah I bought their CD at the same time I bought all the White Stripes stuff. I’ll do a Raconteurs post soon I’m sure
