Warren Haynes - Stanhope House 6/29/97 | MP3s

OK so I missed Mule Monday this week. To make up for it, I’m posting some fantastic Warren Haynes solo acoustic tracks. I have no info at all on this recording - a friend send me a DVD full of goodies (thanks Martin!) and this happened to be included. They were MP3s on the DVD, but I’d sure love to get my hands on a lossless copy. It sure sounds like a soundboard recording, but I’ve been wrong about these things before and I’ll be wrong about them again. The full setlist for this show can be found on MuleBase.

Warren Haynes - Preachin’ Blues
Warren Haynes - Painted Silver Light
Warren Haynes - Presence of the Lord
Warren Haynes - Goin’ Out West

And since the folks over @ Hidden Track asked for it - here’s Soulshine from the same show.

Info via WH/GM Yahoo Group:

I may be off on Wild Horses’ position in the set list as it was not
on the written one, but I think came after One. The Real Thing, To
Lay Me Down and Wine and Blood were on the written set list but
weren’t played.

The Bobby & Ratdog show is also on etree. You can expect some MP3s of the Warren set to be posted here in the not too distant future, but I’m visiting my mum in Victoria, BC (and to see Derek Trucks next Friday) and she has DSL ‘lite’ (glorified dialup), which means it’ll take ages for me to download.

Warren Haynes on Cold Turkey Podcast

The latest musician to sit for a recording of Relix’s Cold Turkey podcast is none other than Warren Haynes. Last week, Haynes dropped by the Relix/Jambands.com offices to talk about his upcoming Mountain Jam festival, Gov’t Mule’s summer tour, the Beacon and, of course, playing with Phil Lesh. He also provided Cold Turkey with some live tracks courtesy of Mule Tracks. Visit Cold Turkey’s homepage to stream Haynes’ first appearance.

My favorite Warren quote from the podcast -

When asked about the eclectic bands and what Warren looks for in the lineup for Mountain Jam -

“Anything really good is welcome, but also there’s a connection with all those bands - they’re all different, but they all appeal to the same kind of music listener. People that take music seriously, that music is a big part of their life, that take the time to seek out music that they love and don’t depend on mainstream media to force feed them garbage.”

Damnit, Warren Haynes is playing. Please remind me to buy lottery tickets a bit more frequently so I can afford this one.

Thanks for helping me waste time - Part II

  • news on the upcoming album Warren Haynes Presents: The Benefit Concert Vol. 2, a two-CD set
  • a new music blog, by an east coast Canadian. I’m all for turning down the suck
  • finding music: elbo.ws, Project FindMusic, Find MP3s with Google, FineTune, mp3realm, Seeqpod and now ijigg
  • it took me way too long to find Hidden Track but now I have
  • last.fm is kind of addictive
  • emusic is addictive
  • concert.tv and relix have teamed up for some kind of jam-January. Right now on their web site you can watch videos/performances by The Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule, Soulive, Jerry Garcia Band, Keller Williams, moe., My Morning Jacket, Phil Lesh & Friends, STS9, SCI, The Disco Biscuits, Widespread Panic and more. If you have fancy-digital-cable and ONDemand you can find concert.tv somewhere in the (probably) very poorly organized guide.
